CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI):
BIOENERGY FOR CIRCULAR AGRICULTURE PROJECT (BECA)
PROVIDE SERVICES ON BUSINESS TRAINING FOR BECAT PARTNERS

BACKGROUND

About SNV Netherlands Development Organization

SNV is an international not-for-profit development organisation, working in more than 25 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. SNV is a mission-driven global development partner, rooted in the contexts and societies where we work. And that mission is to strengthen capacities and catalyse partnerships that transform the agri-food, energy, and water systems to enable sustainable and more equitable lives for all. Our global team of advisors use their specialist expertise to facilitate sustainable change in the livelihoods of millions of people living in poverty.

About BECA project

SNV has been in partnership with E-GREEN, Chinh Phat, STD&T, HD Bank and Nexus with the support of DFAT to promote biogas-to-electricity generation solution for medium-sized and large livestock farms, properly designed and sized that will provide medium and large pig farms with cheap, secure and sustainable energy. Biogas-to-electricity solution will generate electricity for internal use and for sale back into the national electricity grid reducing energy costs for farms by 20 – 30%. The reduced emissions will be linked to international carbon markets providing a revenue stream for E-GREEN, Chinh Phat, STD&T and farm owners.

This partnership aims to promote green and sustainable livestock production by converting biogas on commercial livestock farms into clean electricity, producing organic fertilizer and stimulating green investment in the livestock sector through carbon financing. Critically, it will also contribute to Vietnam’s National Determined Contribution (NDC) by reducing GHG emissions in the growing livestock sector and by decreasing the national electrical grid dependence on coal-fired generators.

The initiative will implement the following strategies to promote women in business:

  • Prioritising women-led farms and supporting their development.
  • Equal ownership of Biogas generation systems to improve decision making in the home.
  • Flexible working conditions within the workplace, including ethical hiring standards.
  • Inclusive training tailor-made to women to increase employability.
