PAPE Translator

1. INTRODUCTION

German Red Cross (GRC) is part of the world wide Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. As a humanitarian organization, GRC assists victims of conflict and disaster as well as people affected by social or health related crisis. The Red Cross Movement provides assistance to vulnerable people without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions and adheres to the seven principles of the Red Cross movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. In Vietnam GRC is supporting its local partner, the Vietnam Red Cross (VNRC), to implement projects in the field of Disaster Relief & Rehabilitation, Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate Change Adaptation, Water & Sanitation and Capacity Building.

Currently, GRC and VNRC are implementing the project “Building urban resilience in South East Asia”, funded by European Union humanitarian aid and coordinated by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) at Regional level. One of components in this project is to raise public awareness for Disaster Risk Reduction in urban context, adopting Public Awareness and Public Education (PAPE) approach. This approach with a wide array of tools was developed by Red Cross movement and was documented in two key documents (1) “Public Awareness and Public Education for Disaster Risk Reduction: a guide” and (2) “Public Awareness and Public Education for Disaster Risk Reduction: key messages”.

2. SCOPE OF WORK

Provide translation services from English into Vietnamese for the following documents:

• Public Awareness and Public Education for Disaster Risk Reduction: a guide
• Public Awareness and Public Education for Disaster Risk Reduction: key messages
• Total number of pages is about 150. This work should be done by 24th July as the latest.

3. QUALIFICATIONS

• University Degree in English
• Excellent written English and Vietnamese skills
• Previous experience working with the Red Cross Red Crescent or experience in translation documents related to communication, disaster risk reduction.
