Project Field Officer

SNV Vietnam is seeking a Project Field Officer, based in Lam Dong with frequent travel (National employment contract)

SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995. Using market based approaches, SNV is committed to reducing poverty by catalyzing environmentally sustainable solutions for the poor in agriculture, energy, water & sanitation, and REDD+.

SNV is engaged in the project ‘Delivering Environmental and Social Multiple Benefits from REDD+ in Southeast Asia’ (MB-REDD+) 2010-2016, which provides advisory services to national government agencies (primarily the Vietnam Administration of Forestry - VNFOREST), and other stakeholders, to put into operation mechanisms to promote and demonstrate biodiversity performance as part of the national REDD+ programme. We are seeking for a Project Field Officer to monitor the project field work activities in Lam Dong.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical input in developing and introducing project activities of Participatory Forest Monitoring (PFM), Participatory Impact Assessment and Monitoring (PIAM), Benefit Distribution System (BDS) in the project site
  • Assist local stakeholders implement the project activities and delivering resultant outputs
  • Assist the mobilization and coordination of activities implemented by consultant service providers
  • Monitor activity implementation progress and quality of fieldwork implemented by consultant service providers in local project areas
  • Provide support in organisational matters/facilitation for meetings/workshops/trainings and other capacity building activities of the project
  • Maintain good relationship with project partners and stakeholders at the local level
  • Contribute lessons learnt on local-level implementation of REDD+ components to other SNV project sites, local and national government agencies, and other REDD+ stakeholders in Vietnam
  • Prepare and update regularly work-plans and reports of the project to keep project partners informed about project progress
  • Implement administrative and logistic arrangements for all project activities
  • Prepare and monitor expenditure of project site-activity budget plans
  • Prepare and check correctness of invoices /receipts
  • Manage the petty cash levels at the field level

Candidate profile

  • University degree in forestry, environmental or social sciences, rural development or related fields
  • Minimum of 5 year experience in natural resources management and/or rural development
  • Field work experience with INGO is an advantage
  • Basic understanding about REDD+
  • Adequate understanding of financial and accounting procedures
  • Ability to work independently and be a good in team player
  • Good communication skills in English in both spoken and written;  
  • Good computer skills in MS-applications (Word, Excel, Internet, Email, Power Points).

Contract Duration: one-year employment contract with the possibility of extension and a competitive salary package
