Task Manager, Thailand

They are currently seeking a Task Manger for an upcoming multi-year regional program in Southeast Asia. Possible start date is January 1, 2012 and the position is subject to ACDI/VOCA being awarded the program. The program will work in Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia to integrate and address climate change adaptation issues relating to water, agriculture and food security, ecosystems and biodiversity, and livelihoods and vulnerable populations.

Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership for the pilot project design and implementation component.
- Manage design and implementation of 5-6 pilot project in four countries and coordinate program resources and collaborate with partners and COP and DCOP to ensure pilot program success and completion of deliverables.
- Develop and implement community integrated adaptation plans addressing sustainability of water and sanitation systems; crop diversification plans and animal husbandry systems; market opportunities for commodities; food security needs/risks; irrigation requirements; ecosystem management plans.
- Apply vulnerability assessments and adaptation strategies to the design of community and ecosystem based adaptation pilot programs.
- Assess vulnerability of the community to climate change impacts; relative commitment and fitness of the community; complementarities with other USG or donor projects
- Identify and select representative ecosystems and communities for the implementation of pilot program proposals.
- Develop community adaptation plans with selected communities.
- Submit M&E reports for each pilot, identifying baseline situation and quantifying the impact in sufficient detail to undertake an economic cost benefit analysis.
- Submit pilot program completion reports detailing technical and social processes; economic cost benefit analysis; challenges and successes.
- Write task specific reports as required and contribute to regular project reporting and annual planning

Qualifications:
- Relevant field experience in rural and community based projects, preferably with experience in community or ecosystem based adaptation projects. 
- Significant management experience in implementing pilot projects and a demonstrated ability to work in a developing country.
- Prior experience in Southeast Asia.
- Experience in the agriculture cropping systems in Southeast Asia is required.
- Advanced degree in Environmental Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Biodiversity Management or related field
- Direct experience with USAID and other donor organizations
- Knowledge of international NGO policies and procedures
- Excellent oral and written English
