53 Vietnamese Scholars to Take Postgraduate Programs in Australia

The Australian Embassy has announced that a new group of 53 Australia Awards scholars will leave Vietnam in early 2017 to undertake postgraduate studies in Australia. Among these scholarship recipients are 38 women and one disabled person. The scholarships funded by the Australian Government for the next generation of global leaders allow the recipients to study at a university of their choice in Australia in a diverse range of areas. The new scholars are the latest of a total of 5,800 Vietnamese who have received long-term and short-term training opportunities from the Australian government since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1973. The Australia Awards Scholarships are part of a broader investment by the Australian Government in human resource development in Vietnam, which will over time include short courses and informal training opportunities to address gaps in skills and knowledge needed to support Vietnam’s development.
