Germany to Finance EUR7M to Vietnam Wind Power Development Plan

Deutsche Gesellschaft fürInternationaleZusammenarbeit (GIZ) or the German Agency for International Cooperation is continuing its financial support worth total EUR7 million to wind power development in Vietnam until 2018. The funding will be allocated to projects on taking full use of wind power potentials in the Southeast Asian country, lasting for at most two years and a half each. Projects, which receive support from GIZ and the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, will cost between EUR50,000 and EUR100,000 each. The projects are within programs on developing green energy within the German Climate Technology Initiative (DKTI) supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Vietnam, with more than 3,600 kilometers of coastline and millions square kilometers of sea, expects to increase its combined capacity of all wind power plants to about 1,000MW by 2020 and 6,200MW by 2030.
