Norwegian Red Cross Helps Increase Disaster Response Capacity in Vietnam

The Norwegian Red Cross (NRC) has provided more than $7 million to help 21 localities across Vietnam cope with natural disasters and improve environmental hygiene over the past 21 years, the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) online newspaper reported. The information was released at a meeting held recently in the capital city of Hanoi to celebrate the 21-year partnership between the Red Cross of Vietnam and the Norwegian Red Cross. Thanks to the NRC’s assistance, a project worth about VND16 billion ($704,070) has been carried out in 15 communes in the northern provinces of Ha Giang and Lao Cai, and the central province of Nghe An since 2015. The project has aided more than 176,000 locals, helping them reduce the adverse impacts of disasters and improve their livelihoods. (VOV Sept 11)
