Vietnam PM Approves $6M Project on Child Care Funded by UNICEF

The Vietnamese prime minister has approved a project on providing comprehensive care for children coupled with renovating the healthcare system worth over $6 million funded by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The fund includes $5.12 million in official development assistance (ODA), VND16 billion ($704,070) in reciprocal capital, and VND8.1 billion in material supports. The project is expected to strengthen competency of the healthcare system in mother and child care in accordance with the UNICEF’s Integrated Early Childhood Development (IECD) Program. The project will be implemented in 2017-2021 in the capital city of Hanoi, the northern province of Dien Bien, and the Central Highlands provinces of Gia Lai and Kon Tum.
