[dmwg] Typhoon no. 5 damage july 21-4pm

Dear all,
Here is some information on Typhoon no. 5 (Molave)
Please note that there is no need for international assistance.
. Human loss:
o Number of deaths: 3- 1 man, 1 woman, 1 child (Phong Tho district)
o No. of people missing: 5 -4 men , 1 woman ( lam Dong province)- CCFSC,
Than Nien daily
o No. of people injured: 9 (including 2 children) in Soc Trang province
and Phu Tho -CCFSC, Vietnamnet
Total estimated damages:
. Houses:
o 37 collapsed -CCFSC and Vietnamnet
o 360 houses had their roof blown away- CCFSC and Vietnamnet
o 373 classrooms had their roof blown away and were damaged - CCFSC
. Agriculture:
o Rice fields and short-term crops flooded: 339ha-CCFSC
o Farm produce flooded in Ha Noi: 2.380ha - CCFSC
. Infrastructure:
o Length of broken irrigation channel : 1.780m
Vietnam's Central Committee for flood and storm control has asked affected
provinces to keep track of flood development and conduct necessary
activities. District committee of flood and storm controls have assigned
officers to the scenes to help the communities.
Forecast: More heavy rain is forecasted in the north creating a potential
for flash floods and landslides. The typhoon has now decreased to a
depression.
