[dmwg] Preparation for the exhibition at the Global Platform on 16-19 June, Geneva

Please read the email below from Mr Nguyen Huy Dzung, Deputy Director DMC:

 

 

 

Dear fellows,

 

Let allow me to introduce myself to you again. I'm Nguyen Huy Dzung and
working for DMC of the DDMFSC. A greeting from DDMFSC to you all.

 

As you may all be aware that a global scale discussion titled "Global
Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction" will be organized on 16-19 June in
Geneva by the United Nations. MARD has been invited to participate this
important event too. A meeting on the preparation for the Platform between
MARD and UNISDR were taken place on 20 April. UNISDR has suggested that
Vietnam should present to the world their achievements on DRR during this
current decade in occasion of the Global Platform. For this purpose, UNISDR
will support to make a booth available at the market place for Vietnam. 

 

By capturing this idea, our Vice Minister Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Hoc has agreed
and requested UNISDR doing their best to make it happen. He has also
requested DDMFSC preparing the materials for this purpose. I have known that
you're all the proactively and effectively initiatives on the area of DRR in
Vietnam. You have been providing remarkable efforts in helping our people at
the disaster-vulnerable community increase their own resilient. From this
view and taking an opportunity to present to the world how Vietnam safes
from disaster, I would kindly seek your further cooperation in well
preparing the DRR material for the exhibition at the Platform, which is, i)
to send us the list of the BEST materials (poster, leaflet, film, handbook,
etcetera) on DRR that available at your organization; ii) to free provide us
copies of those materials (in paper copies for the paper material and in
CDrom for film). Just a remark to you! All materials must be in English.

 

Pls. be noted that the booth provided for Vietnam is quite small (around 3m
by 3m) and we cannot bring all materials to Geneva. Therefore a procedure on
selection of the material has to be taken by the following steps:

1.	Self-screening of material available at your office. Just select the
best one;
2.	Send the best materials list to us for the second round screening.
We will try our best to bring all of your if possible. But in case not, we
have to do so;
3.	A final list of material, which will be brought to Geneva will be
sent to you. Exact number of needed copies per each material will also be
provided in the list;
4.	Arrangement of handing over these selected materials will be
identified organization by organization depending on your available. But it
has to be completed in two weeks before the Platform takes place.

 

By doing so, I again would like to request your cooperation in quickly
sending us your list of the best material. 10 May is the latest. We will
excuse you for non-acceptance if your send your list to us later than this
deadline.

 

Once again, let me on behalf of the DDMFSC to thank you very much for your
cooperation and support. We are looking forwards to receive your list on
time, and to work closer with you in the future for the implementation of
DRR activities/programes.
