Subject: National Disaster Day (22 May): DMWG initiatives -morning and afternoon-

Dear DMWG colleagues,

On occasion of the National Disasters Day, May 22, the Group has organized a number of initiatives to promote adequate disaster risk reduction strategies and community participation in disaster risk management.

JANI colleagues have prepared a very nice programme in a school in Thanh Tri District, Hanoi. Participation is highly encouraged so please, see detailed information in documents attached.

In the afternoon, MARD will officially present the MARD-UN disaster management project to government officials, NGO, donors and partners. The session will serve also to convene crucial main disaster messages that are pillars of the programme. Final agenda will be circulated soon.

Both initiatives have been scheduled at different time so interested partners can participate in both events if wished. The idea is to have a full of activity national day that gives the opportunity to advocate for disaster preparedness in different forums and different levels.
