Kindly find attached draft minutes of DMWG's meeting yesterday.

HEAVY RAINS IN THE NORTHERN PROVINCES:
Situation in northern provinces after the heavy rain of last Sunday was discussed. There was agreement that there is NO need for international support at this stage as communities are coping with the situation and national authorities at local and central level are providing assistance. The situation will be closely monitored in case heavy rain continues in the coming days.

IMPORTANT:
The Group agreed on the need of recruiting a national consultant to draft the DMWG Disaster and Pandemic Plan. Should your organization can contribute with this consultant and/or funds to hire this person, please contact the new DMWG chairman (Save the Children: Mr. Gia gianv at savethechildren.org.vn<mailto:gianv at savethechildren.org.vn>)

NEW CHAIRMAN:
Lastly, and on behalf of UN PCG 10, I believe I talk on behalf of 8 UN agencies when I say that it has been a pleasure for us facilitating the work of this excellent team of professionals, mostly highly committed national staff, very qualified and strongly engaged in the disaster initiatives in this country. I personally have learnt a lot from you and are willing to keep working with the group in the coming months now as a regular member.

I'm sure the Save The Children will play a great role as it is one of the most experienced organizations in the disaster arena in Viet Nam and has excellent professionals with long experience in the field.

Dear disaster colleagues,

After the heavy rains of last Sunday (5 July) in the northern areas, let me suggest including in the agenda as one of the first discussion points an update on the situation. This invitation is also extended to CCFSC permanent staff that surely will be glad to provide further information about damages and particularly needs if any.

Initial data includes: 22 deaths, 13 missing, 02 injured, 19 houses collapsed and 262 rice hectares flooded http://www.ccfsc.org.vn/ccfsc/?module=102&nid=1136&sid=NDMP

Additionally, and for your information, we are in consultation with UNOSAT to activate the charter and get satellite imaginary of the flooded areas to better assess the impact.

In the light of these recent events, the objective of today's meeting will be as follows:

 1.  Update on heavy rains in northern Viet Nam (5 July)
 2.  Monitoring the implementation of DMWG Annual Work plan
 3.  Policy Dialogue in Viet Nam: Geneva, High Level Forum
4.   International Disaster Response Law
5.   Other business

Attached is the revised agenda.

Dear DMWG members,

I'm happy to send you an invitation to participate in the next DMWG meeting that will be held on Tuesday, 7 July, at 13.30 in NGO RC.

We will be starting half an hour earlier as requested by IFRC so Victoria can present to the group findings and views about their Disaster Law project.

Objectives of the meeting:

 1.  Monitoring the implementation of DMWG Annual Work plan
 2.  Policy Dialogue in Viet Nam: Geneva, High Level Forum
3.   International Disaster Response Law
4.   Other business

As you will see in the draft agenda attached, the regular DMWG meeting will last only 1 hour so IFRC has time enough to fully cover the issues under their IDRL project.

Please, note that meeting will start at 13.30 h., instead of 14.00 as in previous occasions.
