[Vcbtn] Revival of the Community Based Tourism Network

Dear colleagues and Friends,

We are writing to you all about the revival of the Community Based 
Tourism Network. As you may know this Working Group, which is one of the
Working Groups hosted by the NGO Resource Centre, was active in the past 
under the chairmanship of Mr. Douglas Hainsworth from the The
Netherlands Development Organization (SNV).

However, Mr. Douglas Hainsworth left Vietnam, and meetings of the 
Network have lapsed.

The Network needs a new core group and a new chair to coordinate its 
work, in order to continue to bring together organisations and
individuals interested in improving the  the quality of CBT development 
as a means towards improving the livelihoods of the rural poor through CBT.

Many NGOs work in this sector and we believe that the revival of the 
Network would be a great opportunity for sharing information and
experiences, identifying opportunities for co-ordination and promoting 
policy dialogue with government agencies, donor organisations and other
local and international organisations.

It's a good news that NGO Resource Centre had a discussion with Mr. Phil 
Harman - Sector Leader, Pro-poor Sustainable Tourism from SNV, He is
very keen to this issue and He willing to take the chairmanship role as 
SNV was one of Network Founders.

Membership of the core group is open to members of both international 
NGOs and Vietnamese NGOs, and others interested in the sector. According
to the terms of reference the core group would aim to meet quarterly and 
at other times if needed. The core group, on behalf of the Working
Group, interacts with other groups and mainstreams its goal and objectives.

We encourage you to join with others interested in CBT in Vietnam to 
help revitalise the Working Group.
