Here is an interesting link on the Virginia Department of Game and
Inland Fisheries web site.

Sportsmen and women in Virginia are able to contribute voluntarily to
those in need by making a donation of $2 to the Hunters for the Hungry
program when they purchase their hunting and fishing licenses. Donations
to Hunters for the Hungry may also be made online at any time.
Each $2 donation will enable Hunters for the Hungry to provide 10
additional servings of venison.
Hunters for the Hungry is a 501(c)(3) non-profit association that
provides donated venison to people in need across Virginia. The group
was established in 1991 and, since then, has provided more than 10.5
million servings of venison.
In addition to financial contributions, successful hunters donate deer
to Hunters for the Hungry. Hunters for the Hungry accepts thousands of
pounds of deer annually; however due to a shortage of funds to process
and package the meat, Hunters for the Hungry is unable to accept
thousands more.
These $2 voluntary donations provide the needed funds to help bridge
this gap. The donation is not only tax-deductible, but also makes a big
difference in the lives of many Virginians.
Consider making a $2 donation to Hunters for the Hungry when purchasing
your license this year!
