Two men caught in cemetery with 130 pangolins for sale

KUANTAN: Two men were caught red-handed by police while waiting at a Chinese cemetery to sell off 130 pangolins worth more than RM200,000.

The animals were found in gunny sacks in the boots of two cars. The police ambush took place at a cemetery located along the Kuantan-Segamat road near Gambang at 4pm on Friday followed a public tip-off.

The men, aged 21 and 32, were detained and handed over to the state Wildlife Protection and National Parks Department for further action.

The department director Khairiah Mohd Shariff said based on initial investigations, the animals were supposed to be sent to Johor Baru for export.
