Masters’ graduate in Environmental Geoscience, passionate about modern science and its application to the current global issues affecting the wider community, with a strong desire to work for a positive cause. Flexible with regards to time and place of employment.

Research & Analytical Skills
Conducted my own research project under the guidance of Dr. Philip Hopley (UCL) as part of my Masters’ degree, involving stable isotope analysis of a speleothem deposit form the Pleistocene of South Africa.
Research placement completed in summer 2009 in the organic geochemistry facility at the Open University, Milton Keynes, under the supervision of Dr. Alison Blyth, investigating palaeoclimate through compound-specific carbon isotopes and lipid biomarkers in stalagmites.
Analysis of data across a broad range of subjects within the physical and life sciences during the course of a Geological Society recognised undergraduate Masters’ degree (MSci) in the department of Earth Sciences, University College London (2006-2010).
Data collection skills developed during practical assessment throughout course of degree, both in field and laboratory settings.
Leadership and Initiative Skills
Elected President of UCLU Jitsu 2009/2010, running the society (around 80 members, club has won national competition 12 times), including arranging publicity and recruitment of new members at the beginning of the year, and taking the club to two national competition events.
Responsibility - In previous retail jobs I regularly ran the shop single-handed during solo shifts, and on multiple occasions was given the responsibility of managing the shop/facility over extended periods of time (up to 10 days) whilst owner took leave.
Young Leader with Girlguiding UK for 2 years, assisting the Guide leader with planning and carrying out organised activities during meetings. Worked with Rainbows (age 5-7) and Guides (age 10-14).
Interpersonal Skills
Outdoors - Experienced in working within a group under demanding physical and social conditions for periods of several days to several weeks through University fieldwork and Duke of Edinburgh expeditions (Gold level).
Mentoring - During third year of University I was appointed as a mentor to a small group of new students, helping them adjust to University life and being a figure of support in a non-academic capacity. In high school I also participated in a paired reading scheme, helping younger, less able children to improve their reading skills.
Organisational skills
Meeting numerous deadlines during academic life, whilst juggling extra-curricular commitments including Jitsu training and club Presidency, part-time job and evening language classes.
Previous job in laboratory preparation facility required excellent organisational skills to keep the continual cycle of food preparation and disposal in motion.
Creative Skills
Musical ability in playing the Cello at grade 8 standard.
A member of Winscombe Youth Theatre for 6 years, taking part in annual productions both on stage and behind the scene.
