Climate change will have far-reaching effects on our cities and will present politics and society with new challenges. A conference entitled “Climate Change and Sustainable Urban Development” will be held from 14-15 September 2010 at the Goethe Institut Hanoi as part of ‘Germany in Vietnam 2010’ activities. Vietnamese and German experts and decision makers from various fields will discuss the effects of climate change and possible approaches to seek solutions for urban development. Examples of housing construction and traffic planning from German cities will be presented, in order to generate suggestions for the challenges facing Vietnamese metropolitan areas. The University of Hamburg and the Ministry of Construction are cooperation partners for the conference. Conference language is English (with simultaneous translation into Vietnamese).
