EC Grant: Investing in People - Children - Fighting Child Labour

Children comprise one third of the world population and make up more than half of the population in developing countries. They form a unique constituency with particular sets of needs and rights that are recognised as a self-standing set of concerns. More than 200 million children in the world are involved in child labour, doing work that is damaging to their mental, physical and emotional development; over 120 million are engaged in worst forms of child labour.

Irish Aid - Vietnam - Call for Concept Notes under the Civil Society Facility

Irish Aid is currently inviting concept notes for its 2010 funding round. Priority consideration will be given to interventions which inform poverty reduction and social protection policies for vulnerable groups. The Civil Society Facility focuses on the following areas: disability, HIV & AIDS, and local participation and planning.

Funds for Projects Helping Schooling Efforts in Vietnam

Budget : 50.000 euros.
Geographical area : North.
Project’s objectives : to reinforce access of children to school.

Direct beneficiaries: children from 6 to 15 years old. They  are children good health or sick; disabled ; socially disadvantaged ;  street children, orphans,  etc.
They are particularly interested in projects dedicated to minorities.
All these children are in need to access school.

Project  typology :
- Construction or rehabilitation  of buildings / specific schooling Centres / specific schools, social shelters,  etc, and / or
- Funding pedagogical  material, equipment, etc. and / or
- Setting up specific educational program and /  or

Women's Empowerment Award

The Rockefeller Foundation, in partnership with the US State Department, is supporting a major new award to foster innovation in promoting women and girl’s empowerment in the developing world.

Hanoi University and University of Gothenburg in Sweden Offer Free 'Research Teams'

Hanoi University and University of Gothenburg in Sweden offer small teams of MA- students within the field of development studies. Since one year back, those two institutions have collaborated on student exchange and field research training in Vietnam. With good results they have brought Vietnamese and international students together in research teams. The students have carried out minor research tasks in rural and urban areas within the field of development research.

RMIT Students Support Local NGOs' Projects in Variety of Areas

RMIT International University Vietnam is extending its Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program to Northern Vietnam and is currently seeking interested partner organisations in the Hanoi area to take part in their 2011 WIL projects.
The projects are developed based on the needs of their project partners.
Please consider if there are some projects that may be on your organisations’ “to do” or “wish” list that may be completed by committed students, under the guidance and consultation of academics and industry partners to ensure quality. The teams are hosted and conduct their project work at RMIT University Ha Noi campus.

Japan to Grant $78,000 to Build School in Vietnam North Province

Japan will provide $78,000 in non-refundable aid to Vietnam’s mountainous northern province of Dien Bien to build a primary school in Ta Te commune, Dien Bien Dong district. An agreement to this effect was signed between Japanese Ambassador Mitsuo Sakaba and deputy chairman of the district people’s committee Vang A Ho on May 28, the Voice of Vietnam Radio said May 29. The Ta Te school will be a two-storey building with six classrooms to replace the old which is currently also used as a kindergarten. On the same day, a Japanese-funded secondary school namely Ang To was put into operation in Muong Ang district. The $86,000 school includes six classrooms and six boarding rooms.

AusAID Human Rights Grants

The Australian Government’s Human Rights Grants Scheme (HRGS) is now open to receive Expressions of Interest for funding to conduct human rights activities in developing countries.

The Scheme supports non-government organisations and human rights institutions to conduct human rights projects with direct and tangible benefits for at-risk populations. Through the Scheme, Australia helps to build civil society capacity in developing countries to protect and promote human rights at the grassroots level.
