The Vietnamese government has approved a plan to prioritize the upgrade of six hospitals to international standards by 2030, with a vision extending to 2050, according to the prime minister’s Decision 1576/QD-TTg signed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long on December 16.
The six hospitals are Bach Mai Hospital, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, Hue Central Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital, 108 Military Central Hospital, and 175 Military Hospital.
New centers such as the Tay Nguyen Central Hospital and National Organ Transplant Coordination Centers in Hanoi, Danang, and Ho Chi Minh City will also be developed.
Under the plan, the government will invest in the infrastructure of specialized research labs for drug development and encourage private sector investments in advanced, high-tech medical services, including those catering to high-income and foreign clients.
Other priorities include establishing national disease control centers and three regional disease control centers, along with building two prenatal and neonatal screening centers in Thai Nguyen and Dak Lak, and upgrading six others in major cities like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Can Tho. (ANTD)
