Vietnam Deputy PM Approves Hospital Restructuring Plan through 2030

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long has signed Decision 1704/2024 approving the restructuring and reorganization of Ministry of Health-managed hospitals through 2025 and for the 2026-2030 period, local media reported.

Under the decision, the Ministry of Health will directly manage a limited number of leading specialized hospitals and those responsible for ensuring healthcare security in the Central Highlands and key economic-social regions, in line with the national healthcare network plan.

Hospitals outside this category will be transferred to local management or merged with other Ministry-affiliated institutions.

In 2025, the Ministry will reorganize two hospitals, namely Central Hospital 71 and the National Rehabilitation and Nursing Hospital, into teaching hospitals under the ministry’s Hanoi Medical University. Quang Nam Central General Hospital will become the third facility of Hue Central Hospital.

For the 2026-2030 period, the Ministry will draft a detailed plan to continue restructuring and submit it to the Prime Minister in the second quarter of this year. (PLO, VietnamNet, Dan Tri, SGGP)
