The proportion of patients seeking services at central-level hospitals is expected to decrease to 5% by 2050, the Vietnamese Ministry of Health said.
Around 50% of patients are projected to use inpatient services at provincial hospitals, while 40% will seek care at district-level facilities in the country by that time, the health ministry added.
According to the 2020 Health Statistics Yearbook, hospital beds at central-level hospitals under the Ministry of Health accounted for 11.3% of the total number of public hospital beds nationwide. Inpatient services at this level made up about 9.4% of total usage. By comparison, provincial hospitals accounted for 51.4% and district hospitals for 37.3%. (Lao Dong)
