Vietnam’s metropolis hub Ho Chi Minh City will introduce free tuition for public school students and financial support for private school students starting in the 2025-2026 academic year, state media reported.
Under this policy, preschools and high school students in public and private institutions, including continuing education programs, will receive monthly tuition assistance ranging from VND100,000 to VND200,000 ($4.17-$8.33), depending on their grade level.
The policy aims to reduce the financial burden on families and ensure equal access to education for all students.
With this move, HCMC joins eight other localities, including Danang City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Haiphong City, Quang Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, Vinh Phuc, and Yen Bai, in providing tuition-free education at the primary and secondary levels. (ANTD, Dau Tu, VnExpress, Tuoi Tre, VOV, Dai Bieu Nhan Dan)
