Switzerland Pledges CHF3.6M for Tour Proj for Vietnam’s Sustainable Growth

The Swiss government pledges to provide a non-refundable grant of CHF3.6 million (VND101 billion or $4.21 million) from ODA capital to deploy the “Swiss tourism for sustainable development in Vietnam” (ST4SD) project, Swiss Ambassador to Vietnam Thomas Gass told the project launching ceremony on February 28.

The project is set to be piloted in northern Ha Giang province, central Quang Nam province, and southern Dong Thap province in 2024-2027. It is expected to be expanded to Hanoi, central Hue City, and southern Can Tho City.

The three-component project will focus on building a public-private dialogue mechanism at the national, regional and provincial levels; developing a set of indicators for Vietnam’s tourism development to enhance competitiveness; providing in-depth training to improve skills and expertise for human resources in the tourism and hospitality sector; supporting destinations with sustainable tourism development ideas; and raising awareness among businesses about green tourism standards.
