The Mekong River Commission (MRC) is the inter-governmental organisation, working with the governments of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand, and Viet Nam to address their common interests, jointly manage shared water resources, and promote the sustainable development of the Mekong River.

 

As a regional facilitating and advisory body, governed by water and environment ministers from the four countries, the MRC aims to ensure that (a) Mekong water resources are managed and developed in the most efficient and sustainable manner for the mutual benefits of all Member Countries, and (b) any harmful impacts on people and the environment in the Lower Mekong Basin are minimised.

 

Stakeholder engagement is one of our key areas to strengthen partnerships on transboundary water management. Therefore, the MRC Secretariat is now recruiting a highly qualified candidate from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand or Viet Nam for the position of:

 

Stakeholder Engagement Specialist

 

Division/Office:	Office of Chief Executive Officer, MRC Secretariat
Salary Level:	M-12, Step 1 (Competitive salary and benefits package as mentioned in the Job Description)
Work Location:	MRC Secretariat’s Headquarters (Vientiane, Lao)
Contract Type/ Duration:	Fixed-term Appointment (One-year contract with annual renewal for a maximum of Six–year)

Job Summary:

 

The jobholder will promote and strengthen MRC’s engagement with its stakeholder groups in basin development planning and other key processes. This ensures participatory management of the Basin’s water and related resources while enhancing the MRC’s regional profile. The incumbent will coordinate all stakeholder engagement efforts across the organization and provides technical support to all MRC’s activities. Additionally, they will contribute to the implementation of MRC’s Gender Policy by facilitating the equal and effective participation of women and men in stakeholder engagement activities.  

 

Job Requirements:

 

Certificate:	University degree (Master or higher) in communications/ public relations, social sciences, public administration or other related field
Additional certificates:	TOEIC certificate with 600 points and over is required. An equivalent internationally recognized certificate or a university degree from an internationally recognized academic institution whose instruction is in English may also be considered.
Experience:	Minimum 10 years of experience in public participation processes, stakeholder engagement in national and international public organizations, preferably on natural resources management; Experience in international coordination; Experience with engaging in private sector and civil society in the planning process.
