Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) is an Oslo-based Humanitarian organization working in the field of Mine Action. We have operated in Vietnam since 2007 with Representative office and projects in Hanoi, Hue, Quang Tri and Quang Binh. We are seeking for qualified, enthusiastic, experienced Vietnamese applicants for 02 fulltime Medics working for NPA Quang Binh Project, in Dong Hoi city.

 

Main function:

The Medic plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of team members in high-risk environments. The Medic provides first aid and trauma based medical treatment to team members in the event of an accident and manages medical equipment and aid tools used for first aid and health care of team members as per NPA Vietnam SOP, remains vigilant, proactive, and prepare to respond swiftly to emergencies while adhering to all safety protocols.

 

Scope of responsibility:

  • Prepare all medical equipment required for daily operational activities, following the Team Leader’s briefing, ensure all equipment is clean, serviceable, and stored in a secure location at the end of the working day
  • Secure and document the controlled drugs properly.
  • Pack medical equipment in unified, organized manner to allow quick access during emergencies.
  • Ensure the safety vehicle is equipped with a stretcher, has sufficient fuel to reach the nearest medical facility, and is available at all time during operations in hazardous areas.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of medical supplies, including expiry dates, and replace items as required. Inform the Team Leader/logistics if supplies near expiry or cannot be replenished within 24 hours, and provide feedback on supply needs to the Team Leader and Medic Coordinator.
  • Report any damage or deficiencies in medical stores and equipment to the Team Leader promptly.
  • Provide accurate and timely diagnosis, treatment, and advice on all medical conditions encountered by team members.
  • Refer cases beyond the Medic’s capacity or knowledge to qualified medical personnel or facilities.
  • Position appropriately during operations, as outlined in NPA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • In agreement with the Team Leader, select a suitable location as a medical point for operations, ensuring readiness to respond to emergencies.
  • Maintain constant communication with the Team Leader and be aware of the location of all team members during operations.
  • Conduct medical training sessions for other NPA staff when required.

 

Required qualifications – experience:

  • Minimum Nursing Degree, Medical practice certificate by respective Department of Health
  • Qualified to administer IV fluids and drugs.
  • Prior experience in working with trauma based medical emergencies is preferred.
  • A desire and being fit for outdoor activities.
  • Driving license Level B2/C/D/E is preferred.
  • Must be careful and able to work in team, under pressure, and have positive attitude.
