Helvetas is an independent development organization based in Switzerland, with affiliated organizations in Germany and the United States. Since 1994, Helvetas has been active in Vietnam, working across various sectors, including Agriculture, Biodiversity Conservation, Forestry, Eco-tourism, and Rural Economic Development.
Under the SWITCH-Asia program of the European Union, Helvetas is implementing the project “Circular Economy Cocoa: From Bean to Bar.” The project aims to develop circular economy solutions in cocoa and other agri-food sectors, leading to equitable economic growth decoupled from harmful environmental impacts. The project is being implemented over four years (2022-2026) in 6-7 key cacao-growing provinces in the Central Highlands and Mekong Delta regions of Vietnam.
Lam San Cooperative is a leader in organic farming, focusing on key crops like pepper and cocoa. They also smartly turn farm waste into fertilizer and use an agroforestry approach to boost biodiversity on their farms. The cooperative aims for a circular economy and wants to cut down on pollution. They are committed to providing high-quality products, ensuring a steady supply, and sharing profits fairly with their members. Currently, they work with nearly 1,000 farming families, managing over 1,000 hectares of pepper and about 300 hectares of cocoa.
To further their sustainable growth, Lam San Cooperative is now embracing advanced technology, particularly water pumps powered by renewable energy. Helvetas Vietnam is supporting the cooperative in this endeavor, which aims not only to optimize irrigation efficiency but also clearly demonstrates Lam San Cooperative’s strong commitment to environmental protection and reducing operating costs.
Helvetas Vietnam is seeking for a consultant to conduct design, installation, and technology transfer of solar pumping systems for agroforestry integration at Lam San Cooperative. For more details, please refer to the attached Terms of Reference (TOR).
