225Kg Bomb Defused in Can Tho City

Authorities of Vietnam’s northern city of Can Tho have defused a 225-kg wartime bomb in Thot Not district’s Tan Loc ward, the Quan Doi Nhan Dan newspaper reported July 17. Between Jan and June, local authorities found and deactivated various kinds of bombs and mines with a total weight of more than three tons. Vietnam needs more than $10 billion and take up to 300 years to clear up bombs and mines left from the war, said a representative of the Technology Center for Bomb and Mine Disposal (BOMICEN).
