$2.53M Japan-funded Power Grid Project Underway Central Vietnam

Authority in Vietnam’s central province of Quang Binh has recently started a project worth VND48 billion ($2.53 million) to upgrade local power grids using ODA of the Japanese government. The project will help upgrade power grids in seven communes of Tuyen Hoa and Quang Trach districts, which were hard hit by typhoons in 2007, the Cong thuong newspaper reported June 8. It will help install 12 transformer stations with a combined capacity of 1,296 kVA and 9,590km of average-voltage power lines, and 73,635km of low-voltage lines in the localities.  Earlier, the provincial government plans to invest VND153.25 billion into the expanded rural energy II project with 462 kilometers of power lines in five districts.
