$7.03M General Hospital Underway in South Vietnam

The Vietnamese Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang’s Health Department has began building a general hospital worth VND137 billion ($7.03 million) of g-bonds, the Nhan Dan newspaper reported Nov 12. The 150-sickbed hospital covering 35,000 square meters in Vi Thanh city is expected to provide better healthcare services for locals once operational late 2012. The provincial health industry targets to offer at least 25 sickbeds for every 10,000 people by 2020, compared to the current rate of 16.54/10,000. Vietnam now has 13,438 healthcare facilities with 200,000 sickbeds, including 1,063 public ones. On average, the country reports 1,664 public beds for every 10,000 people and one doctor for every 1,700 residents. (Nhan Dan – The People Nov 12 p7)
