9 Bombs Found in Canal in Long An Province

Engineers June 10 deactivated nine bombs, including a chemical bomb that were fished out from a canal in the southern province of Long An’s Tan Thanh district, the Nhan Dan online newspaper reported June 12. Senior Lieutenant-Colonel Tran Van Dong, deputy director of the Ministry of Defense’s Lung Lo Construction Company, revealed that the bombs are between 44kg and 450kg. On May 5, the company also found and defused a 100kg chemical bomb that was fished out from Dong Tien canal’s 5 meter-deep bed in Long An. Soldiers also discovered two more bombs in this canal.
