ACHR Supports Housing Project for Poor People in Central Vietnam

The Asian Coalition for Housing Rights (ACHR) and the Association of Cities of Vietnam will join hands to implement a community housing project for 102 poor people in the central province of Nghe An. The project will benefit the needy people in Vinh City’s Cua Nam Ward where is now seriously dilapidated and vulnerable to environmental pollution, the Voice of Vietnam Radio said June 9. Under the project, the households will receive loans with a zero interest rate for a period of 10 years. The beneficiaries will pay the loans back in monthly installments. Vinh City, which currently has 135 ageing blocks of flats, plans to replace these blocks by 2015.
