Acute Diarrhea Breaks out in Vietnam Province

Acute diarrhea has broken out in Vietnam’s northern province of Ha Nam with 47 patients hospitalized May 3, the Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper reported, citing the provincial preventive health center. The victims were hospitalized after eating food at a wedding party in Ly Nhan district’s Han hamlet, Head of the center Dang Dinh Thoang said. The epidemic is likely to spread in provinces and cities nationwide due to hot weather, the Ministry of Health’s Department of Preventive Medicine cautioned. Vietnam has confirmed more than 50 cases of cholera in the year to date. In the northern region, the disease has stricken Hanoi, Haiphong, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong and Ha Nam.
