ADB Funds $16M to Build Drainage System in Central Vietnam

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has lent $16 million to a project to build a drainage system in the central province of Binh Thuan’s Phan Thiet city. Binh Thuan Drainage JSC will implement the project from now up to 2012, which is under the small and medium sized urban development program in central Vietnam, the Voice of Vietnam radio reported April 25. Under the project, drainage pump stations, a wastewater treatment plant and a biological lake will be built. Currently, wastewater in Phan Thiet city is discharged into rivers and canals and 35% of the city’s inner areas are flooded in the rainy season.
