ADB Pledges $10B Loans to Vietnam in Next Five Years

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has pledged to finance $10 billion for development projects in Vietnam in 2011-2015 period. The Manila-headquartered bank will focus on supporting infrastructure, environment, education and other several projects in the country, the Dau tu newspaper reported Oct 8.  By end-July, the ADB provided $5.38 billion in loans, $113 million in official development assistance (ODA) and $65 million in technical assistance to the Southeast Asian country. The funding is aimed to help Vietnam to implement its socio-economic development plan in the 2010-2015 period. The communist country disbursed $3.15 billion out of $8 billion lent by ADB by end-2009.
