Chinese-Imported Watermelon Seed Contain Carcinogenic: Vietnam Authorities

Up to 70 tons of watermelon seeds imported from China are found to contain carcinogenic agent in Vietnam’s central province of Binh Thuan, the Saigon Giai Phong newspaper reported Dec. 21. The Vietnamese multi-discipline inspectors found that of the 86 tons of watermelon seed imported by Tan Phat Trade Co, 70 tons contain Rhodamine B agent are sourced from China, 7 tons are without C/O while the remaining are being tested. Watermelon seed is a kind of food that many Vietnamese use on the occasion of Lunar New Year, wedding and other occasions.
