Coordinator, Drug Use Interventions

FAMILY HEALTH INTERNATIONAL (FHI) is an international non-governmental organization that works with the Vietnam Ministry of Health, other ministries, provincial health services, and local non-government organizations to promote the health and well-being of the Vietnamese population, particularly vulnerable and disenfranchised groups. FHI is currently building the capacity of local organizations in HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment; clinical research for the development of vaccines and drugs for infectious diseases; and laboratory strengthening.
They are seeking a dynamic and creative thinking Vietnamese National to fill the following position based in Hanoi: Coordinator, Drug Use Interventions
The position is responsible for development and coordination to the management of implementation of interventions for drug users supported by FHI. The position will take the leadership in project design and implementation for social support program, research and advocacy.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of staff to assist expand comprehensive services for people who use drugs in Vietnam. The project will focus on advocating to increase community based services as well as building the capacity of local organizations, project staff and government counterparts.
- Serve as close advisor and sounding board to the HIV and Drug Use Unit
- Provide exceptional leadership and actively contribute to developing new and creative solutions to ensure the project is implemented in a timely fashion
- Help set up a net work of social workers and contribute to the development of a spectrum of community based services for people who use drugs or who are seeking help to stop using
- Build partnerships between community groups and government partners to encourage dialogue and alternative solutions to address the problems caused by drugs.
- Promote and develop advocacy strategies that will promote evidenced base strategies to address the harms associated with drugs in Vietnam
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and abilities:
- Master’s degree in health policy, public policy, social science or public health and/ or related field.
- At least 7 years of progressively senior management experience working with non government organizations, foundations, or government agencies with expertise in advocacy, research as well as program design and implementation.
- Significant work experience in areas of policy analysis, project design and management including working with civil society.
- Strong communication, leadership and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people throughout a complex organization.
- Ability and enthusiasm to learn new areas and willingness to contribute to a dynamic team.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Vietnamese and English.
