Danang Mobilizes VND50B to Fund for the Poor

The central city of Danang Fatherland Front has mobilized VND50 billion ($2.6 million) to the Fund for the poor over the past ten years, Nguyen Dang Hai, deputy head of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the city said. In 2009 alone, the city mobilized VND9.1 billion, which was used to build nearly 8,000 houses for the poor, and help thousands of poor people repair houses, receive medical treatment and escape poverty. In 2010, the city aims to help nearly 24,000 poor families improve their living standards, build 163 houses for the poor, help 18,000 poor families receive free medical treatment, and support 5,000 poor pupils to continue their studies.
