Danida Launches Campaign to Protect Wildlife in Northern Vietnam

Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) has launched a campaign to reduce consumption of wildlife products in Vietnam’s northern province of Nam Dinh, the Thanh Nien newspaper reported Mar. 16. The campaign named “green restaurant” is aimed at reducing sales of wildlife products at 150 local restaurants from now to end of June 2010.  This is an important move in fighting against wildlife trafficking and raising public awareness of wild animal protection.  Vietnam reportedly detected 1,300 wildlife smuggling cases and confiscated 20,000 animals last year.
