Germany Pledges to Help Vietnam Train Health Workers

The German government is willing to share experiences in managing and training health workers for a hospital for the poor in Vietnam, Dagmar Ziegler, a parliamentarian of the Social Democratic Party of Germany told a visiting Vietnamese official in Berlin May 16. Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) Dang Ngoc Tung was in Germany to attend the 19th Congress of the German Confederation of Trade Unions, the Lao Dong newspaper reported. Tung informed the host of the hospital project by the Labor newspaper’s Golden Heart Fund in order to provide healthcare service for poor laborers and low-incomers.  At the Consultative Group Meeting held in Hanoi in December 2009, Germany pledged EUR137 million in aid for Vietnam in 2010, accounting for 12.7% of the EU’s total aid for the Southeast Asian nation this year.
