Hanoi Invests VND104B in New Safe Vegetable Project

Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi authorities have approved VND104 billion ($5.8 million) for the new safe vegetable project in Dan Phuong district, state media reported. The Agricultural Development and Investment Company Limited (HADICO) will carry out the project to produce, preliminarily process, preserve and distribute safe vegetables in the total area of 84.2 hectares in three communes Dong Thap, Phuong Dinh and Song Phuong. In January, the city’s Plant Protection Service found that 947 vegetable areas or 50% of total area in Hanoi city fail to meet safety standards, the Nguoi Dai bieu nhan dan newspaper reported. Hanoi can meet 14% of its demand for safe vegetable, while the remainder coming from surrounding provinces of Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, and Hung Yen.
