Hanoi Plans to Build More Emergency Centers, Hospitals by 2020

Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi plans to build nine satellite emergency centers and three emergency hospitals to meeting the rising demand of locals, the Hanoi Moi newspaper reported June 29.  This is a part of Hanoi’s master planning of health system development by 2020, aiming to provide better healthcare services for residents. These centers will be built in My Dinh, Thuong Tin, Xuan Mai, Soc Son, Phung, Bac Thang Long new urban area, Hoa Lac urban area, Son Tay while the three hospitals will be located in Bac Thang Long new urban area, Hoa Lac urban area and Phu Xuyen urban area.  Currently, 85% of seriously sick and injured people in Hanoi are transported by their own vehicles to hospital, director of the 115 Center for Emergency Medical Service Tran Van Nam said. Vietnam will allocate VND180 billion worth of g-bonds for health projects in 2010, down from VND230 billion in 2008 and VND380 billion in 2009.
