Hanoi to Spend VND50B to Deal with Drought, Waterlog This Year

Authorities of the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi have approved a plan to spend more than VND59 billion to strengthen 83 irrigation works to deal with drought and waterlog this year, the Ha Noi Moi newspaper reported. Under the plan, the local authorities will allocate VND12.8 billion of the sum for Song Nhue Irrigation Co., VND10.9 billion to Son Tich Irrigation Co, VND10.48 billion to Song Day Co, VND6.85 billion to Hanoi Irrigation Development Investment Co. Ltd, and VND963 million to Me Linh Irrigaiton Co. The local authorities said they will give priority to suburban districts which are falling short of water for agricultural production, including Dan Phuong, Hoai Duc, Dong Anh, Gia Lam, Thanh Tri, Soc Son, Tu Liem, Thuong Tin, Ung Hoa, Phu Xuyen, Quoc Oai and Me Linh.
