Hanoi Takes Measures to Prevent Epidemic Diseases

The Hanoi Preventive Medicine Center will spray chemicals to kill mosquitoes on the large scale in March as part of efforts to prevent spreading of the epidemic diseases. The center plans to vaccinate 25 million poultry, localize all disease outbreaks for timely handling, the Quan Doi Nhan Dan newspaper reported. The center has sprayed chemicals for sterilizing around living places of the first cholera patient of Hanoi in 2010. Swine flu, bird flu, cholera and dengue fever are likely to spread widely in the city, local authorities noted. Since the beginning of the year, Hanoi has confirmed 12 A/H1N1 flu patients and a case contracting bird flu virus strain A/H5N1 and 95 dengue fever patients. Vietnam also recorded 58 A/H1N1-related fatalities since the deadly virus was first detected here last May.
