HCM City Invests $236.8M to Build 4 Hospitals

Ho Chi Minh City has spent VND4.5 trillion ($236.8 million) to a project to build four hospitals since 2007 to reduce the overloads, state media reported Wednesday, citing Nguyen Van Chau, director of the municipal health department. The newly-built hospitals included Thu Duc, Binh Chanh and Cu Chi General Hospitals with 1,000 sick-beds each and District 7 Hospital with 500 beds. However, the project is still sluggish after three years of launching. Currently, the city’s hospitals admit more than 34 million patients for treatment a year with 40% of them coming from other southern provinces, Chau noted.
