HCM City Reports 700 Hand-Foot-Mouth Patients in Q1, up 57% On-year

Ho Chi Minh City reported 700 children catching the hand-foot-mouth disease in the first quarter of this year, up 57% from a year ago, state media reported, citing the city’s Preventive Medicine Center. The Children Hospital No. 2 is treating nearly 40 children patients while the Children Hospital No. 1 admitted more than 30 children suffering from the disease, doctors of the hospitals said. The patients can suffer from complications of fatal encephalitis if they are taken to hospitals too late, the doctors noted.
