Health Officer (HO)

UCODEP is an Italian Ngo working in Vietnam since 2000, mainly focus on rural development and primary health care. It is currently running a project to enhance health care and nutrition autonomy of the ethnic minorities in two mountainous communes in Bat Xat district, Lao Cai Province.
UCODEP is seeking a qualified Vietnamese national applicant to join to our team in Bat Xat in the role of Health Officer (HO).

Position: Health Officer
Location: Bat Xat district (70% time in Bat Xat and 30% time in Hanoi)
Start: as soon as possible
Duration one year with possible extension
Salary: negotiable
Benefits: accommodation, travel transportation to project site, loyalty bonus.

Overall Role
- The main duty of the Health Officer is to manage, support and coordinate and to ensure that activities described in the Scope of Work are properly set-up, effectively implemented and compliant with quality and financial norms as well as with donor’s requirements.
- The HO reports directly to Local Coordinator and Country director and receives technical guidance and support from the experts.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Training of health motivator
2. Organize the health promotion activities at commune and village level
3. Support and supervise the health motivators to ensure their role is recognized and accepted by the community at village level
4. Coordinate the health motivators’ activities to promote an effective health network at village and commune level
5. Facilitate the health network at village and commune level to ensure effective coordination and collaboration between traditional medicine operators and health motivators, promoting the use of medical plants in self-treatment
6. Preparation of didactic material for health campaign at commune and village level
7. Organization and coordination of field visits and health activities carried out by medical experts to improve access to quality MCH/ RH services at commune and village level
8. Collaboration with district health network to ensure easy access to health facility and provision of quality MCH care
9. Other administration tasks that maybe assigned from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills Required:
- Good command in both spoken and written English
- Good computer skills (Word and Excel).
- Competence of planning, monitoring and reporting.
- Be able to work well in a team environment.
- Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview and emotional maturity.
- Working experience in dealing with governmental bodies is an advantage

Education required:
- Bachelor
- experienced or trained in health and traditional medical area is an advantage
- public health studies is an advantage
