Hospitals in North Vietnam to Lack 13,000 Blood Units Jan-Feb

Hospitals in northern Vietnam are estimated to lack 13,000 units of blood between January and February, the Nhan dan newspaper reported Jan. 21, quoting a senior official of the Central Hematology and Blood Transfusion Institute. Pham Tuan Duong deputy head of the institute said the hospitals are forecast to need nearly 22,000 blood units for emergency aid and treatment during the period. Meanwhile, the institute had only around 9,000 units in stock, Duong noted.
