Intel Corp Grants $2.5M Scholarships to Vietnamese Students

Intel Corp, the world’s largest chip maker, has joined hands with Portland State University (PSU) to expand a scholarship program for Vietnamese students. Intel will provide an additional $2.5 million to the two-year scholarship program for Vietnamese students who will work at Intel’s biggest assembly factory in HCM City after graduating. Apart from academic programs in electronics and mechanics, Vietnamese students will also study English and American culture. On July 20, PSU held a reception for 22 Vietnamese students who won scholarships under Intel’s 2010 Scholarship Program. General Director of Intel Products Vietnam, Rick Howarth said this is how Intel wants to make an active contribution to Vietnam’s educational development. In addition, it is also part of the corporation’s strategy in developing its human resources. Mr Howarth expressed his hope that the outstanding students who have won scholarships will form the nucleus of Intel and Vietnam in the future.
