International Donors Fund $1B for Climate Change Projects in Vietnam To Date

International donors have funded $1 billion for the Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to carry out climate change projects so far, the government said on its website. The figure was released at a meeting to build a plan to respond to climate change in Hanoi on May 24 in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai. At the meeting, the Deputy PM has urged the ministry to soon complete an action plan to cope with climate change as the Southeast Asian country is listed among five countries worldwide that will be hardest hit by climate change.  If sea level rises one meter, 5% of Vietnam’s land, 11% of its population and 7% of its agricultural land would be affected with the loss estimated at 10% of GDP.
