Japan to Fund $180M for Vietnamese SMEs

Japan will fund $180 million for Vietnamese small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the State Bank of Vietnam, the country’s central bank, said on its website.  The aid is part of the Japanese aid package worth JPY64.9 billion ($704 million) for Vietnam, and the two sides signed an exchange note in Hanoi Late Oct. The funding will helpraise Vietnamese SMEs’ competitiveness and boost the development of supporting industries, Governor Nguyen Van Giau of the SBV told Ambassador Mitsuo Sakaba on Nov. 3 in Hanoi. Vietnam expects to get $1.5 billion in aid from Japan this year, Mitsuo Sakaba said.
